East Fork Cultivars Mission
At East Fork Cultivars, we maintain a resolute commitment to environmental responsibility, science-based education, and social justice. We strive to develop and preserve sustainable, sun-grown farming methods in order to produce high-quality, genetically diverse, CBD-rich cultivars.
WE BELIEVE
At East Fork, we are more than growers — we are educators, cultivators, and community builders. We look beyond our plants and work to create a movement that expounds on ideas and cultivates an educated community. We are devoted to the development and preservation of sun-grown cannabis and believe that sustainable farming methods produce superior holistic experiences. Rooted in a commitment to environmental and social responsibility, we take great pride in the philosophies present on our farm, in our products, and in the partnerships we nurture.
ORIGIN STORY
Starting out, founders Nathan and Aaron Howard had one goal in mind: grow superior CBD-rich cannabis that could help relieve their oldest brother, Wesley Howard, from the symptoms of his range of conditions. It was witnessing the positive effects of CBD-rich cultivars that drove our desire to expand to provide more people with the same access to CBD and cannabis — and in turn to become stewards of the East Fork Ranch, a picturesque place nestled between the East Fork of Oregon’s Illinois River and California’s Siskiyou Mountains. Our commitment to bettering our community — and to growing genetically unique cultivars — has given us a sense of place and pride.
THE FARM
Our farm is located in the small town of Takilma, nestled between the pristine waters of the East Fork of Southwest Oregon’s Illinois River and California’s Siskiyou Wilderness — the heart of one of the world’s best environments for sungrown cannabis. It’s here that we steward 33 acres, known as the East Fork Ranch, growing our USDA Organic Certified hemp and Sun+Earth Certified adult-use cannabis.
At East Fork, we strive to create a balanced and healthy ecosystem by caring for the soil, water, air, and surrounding ecology of our farm. We mesh together ancient stewardship practices with modern sustainable agriculture with the goal of making a positive impact on the environment in which we live and grow, the people in our community, and the people who rely on what we make.
TERROIR
Terroir refers to the place-based environmental factors — such as soil, water, and climate — that combine to give a plant distinct characteristics. A term typically associated with the wine industry, it’s terroir that enables identical cannabis cultivars to be grown in different regions and produce unique smells, tastes, and effects. The native soil of Oregon’s Illinois River Valley, coupled with our unique farming practices and meticulous drying and curing methods, gives our cultivars their distinct qualities.
